Back in the studio...
Just got back to the studio from being in Hawaii last week. I had the immense pleasure to be able to photograph a beautiful wedding on behalf of another photographer's studio here in Portland, Evrim Icoz Photography. Evrim shot their engagement portraits, which you can view on his blog.
The bride and groom could not have hoped for more perfect weather on their wedding day!

Studio Closure June 22 - July 6
Happy summer, everyone!! Now if the Portland weather could just agree with the fact that it is now officially summer soltice, then it might actually start to feel like summer time...
Cie le vie, because I am headed to the east coast for the next two weeks and it is surely summertime in New England!
Please note that the studio is closed June 22 - July 6 for some destination weddings on the east coast and for the 4th of July holiday. I will be returning all emails and voicemail upon my return.
Since no post should be without an image, here's one of my favorite photos from a recent session with a familiar young gentleman who doesn't mind hamming it up for the camera every now and then...
West Linn, OR :: Children's Photography session
Recently, I had the immense pleasure of being invited to photograph this sweet little girl just in time for her 2 yr old birthday! We started out at her family's house and finished up the session at a park nearby in West Linn. Both settings were familiar to her, which allowed this little monkey a chance to shine for the camera!

The 3/50 Project - supporting local businesses 3 at a time!
There is no doubt that the state of the economy has created a downturn that has forced many of us to tighten our purse-strings. In turn, this has caused many, many, local and small businesses to have to close-up shop, particularly in Portland. Just taking a drive down NW 23rd St (a popular shopping destination here in Portland that houses 100's of locally-owned brick and mortar boutiques, restaurants, salons, and more), I am floored by the amount of EMPTY storefronts with "For Lease" signs out front.
This is where The 3/50 Project comes into play...a project built on the premise, that if only 50% of the employed population spent at total of $50 a month in independent shops... together we would be generating a monthly revenue for our country of over 42.6 billion dollars! We all benefit when we support the small businesses that are an intrinsic part of our communities.
So what do you say...will you be a part of this awesome effort to effect real change for our world?! I will be...I hope you will too.

Studio closed for week-long workshop!
The Photogirl's are at it again! This year we are getting together for a week-long retreat in Manzanita, OR. We're rented an incredible house together again which allows us to share photography tips and tricks with one another while being able to relax a bit, too!
The studio will be closed this week, March 16-20th, for learning + some much needed R&R.
I'll be returning all phone calls and email upon my return to the studio on March 23rd, thanks for your patience!!
Classic B&W Children's portraits
There is nothing more classic and timeless looking than good ol' B&W images of children. Each moment captured is a slice in time. The B&W canvas allows for expressions and eyes to pop out of the photo in a way that grabs you differently than color photos. Something about the toning just draws you into the photograph and you feel as if you were looking into the soul of the person captured. Alternatively, B&W is also an excellent way to view the "story" behind the image, which is probably why we often associate B&W photos with a more photojournalistic style.
These images are actually from an extended family of grandchildren. The grandmother initially contacted me wanting only B&W images so that she could put together a wall of coordinating framed photos... no problem, sounds like fun!

New product! Presentation Box + Easel, displays matted prints
We've got a new product to tell you about! This presentation box + easel is perfect for storing and displaying your favorite images from your wedding or portrait session. Each custom presentation box is made to order and holds 10 - 20 images. Choose from several silk or linen cover materials offered in a variety of colors. You can also choose a ribbon color to match or coordinate with your wedding or home colors.
This presentation box is a great alternative to albums, because you can house many images at one time and it includes an easel to showcase your different images. Enjoy all your images by rotating the images on the easel and storing the rest in the box! This box can be housed up-right to fit in your bookcase, or flat to display on a coffee table or shelf.
A presentation box can also be used for portrait sessions, such as baby, family, or senior sessions.
This box comes in three sizes (size indicates largest image size, box is bigger in dimensions) > small (4x6), medium (6x9), or large (8x12). For example, the outside dimensions of a medium box is 9.5" x 12.5", but it can house prints of different sizes including 2 - 4x6 prints or 1 - 6x9 print.
